Becoming A Mason
Masonic Lodges do not promote solicitation or recruiting of new members. A potential new member must ask of his own free will for an application for membership. In order to become a member, you must first meet the following criteria:
You have attained the Legal age of twenty one
You have lived in the county for (at least) one year if you are applying in this county. Or in an adjoining county. (Just ask)
You are of good moral character.
You are NOT a felon or habitual criminal.
You believe in the laws of our country.
You are free from a disqualifying mental illness.
You believe in a Supreme Being.
You are willing to assume the Masonic obligation.
If you qualify, you can then contact the Secretary of the Lodge you wish to join in order to obtain a Petition. At your request, any member of the Lodge may obtain the petition and give it to you.
You may contact the Secretary of Generous Warren Lodge #20 via e-mail.
After you complete the Petition in its entirety, you return it with the proper fees to the Lodge Secretary or the Brother who gave it to you.
Your Petition is submitted to an Investigation Committee. This Committee will meet with you. This is also your opportunity to meet some of the Lodge's members and to ask any questions of your own.
After meeting with you, the Petition and the Investigating Committee's report will be presented in a meeting. A vote is taken on your Petition. If the vote is favorable, the Secretary will contact you to arrange for your initiation into the Lodge.
